Launching the enterprise collaborative custody network

This week we pushed major updates to the platform in support of the enterprise collaborative custody network: a completely new form of custody for securing private wealth and enterprise bitcoin holdings, available now.

Vaults built on this network rewrite the rules of bitcoin custody for significant bitcoin holdings. In partnership with UK-based Coincover and South Dakota-based qualified custodian Kingdom Trust, now private wealth and enterprise clients can:

  • Hold no keys: Build a vault with keys provided from 3 best-in-class enterprise key agents that will collaborate in the security of the bitcoin
  • Hold 1 key: Cryptographically verfiy the bitcoin addresses and secure a key in the jurisdiction of your choice by controlling 1 key
  • Hold 2 keys: Have full permissionless control over the flow of funds by securing a majority of the keys

In any of these options, no single counterparty has the ability to lose a clients bitcoin, and if a counterparty runs into trouble, the other key holders can step in to recover bitcoin.

Behind the scenes, we released a new onboarding flow for enterprise key agents to join the network. This is the first release of many additional enterprise keys that are onboarding now . Additional enterprise keys will soon be available for selection, and clients can create multiple vaults with different key arrangements from different enterprise keys.

As with all Unchained products, individual multisig wallets are created for each vault on the enterprise collaborative custody network. The multisig file can be imported into the most popular open-source software such as Caravan, Sparrow, or Electrum and can be used completely cross-compatibly with any software that follows the same standards as Unchained.

There's no other product on the market today that is both legally and cryptographically segregated with separate enterprise keys that lets clients confirm bitcoin balances on a full node.
