When you refer someone to Unchained via a referral link, that person must complete a vault purchase in order for you to receive your reward. The Unchained Referral Program offers two types of referral links. A Named Referral is the first option: you enter a label for who you're inviting and receive a unique link. The recipient lands on an Unchained marketing page that explains the program, shows who invited them using your Display Name, discloses the referee discount, explains that your accounts will be connected on Unchained after their first purchase, and links to these terms before they proceed to signup. An Anonymous Referral is the other option, where a single static link you can share broadly; no names are shown, no connection is created between accounts, and only standard attribution applies. The Unchained interface distinguishes the two and explains what each does before you generate or copy a link.
Your Display Name is set on your Profile and defaults to your first name. This is the name referees will see on Named Referral pages, and you may edit it at any time. It is not set per-link.
You can only join via the Unchained Referral Program one time, during your first subscription purchase with Unchained. If you already have an Unchained account, you are not eligible to redeem a referral bonus by creating another account regardless of the type. Your referral balance will be erased if you delete your account. Referral codes may expire without notice. Referrers receive a $50 reward per funded referral or a $250 reward per funded referral that is a Signature client, delivered as a Stripe coupon applied to the referrer's Unchained account. Existing customers will see available promos automatically applied at renewal and on any Stripe-processed purchase, with the credit applied via a promo code at checkout. Once a purchase is made, the referral balance is debited by the amount applied. Rewards can be applied to any account type, provided you are the billing owner of that account. Multiple earned rewards are consolidated on your account, and at each billing event the credit applied is capped at the amount of that renewal or purchase, with any remaining balance carrying forward subject to expiration and forfeiture. When more than one reward is on your account, rewards are spent on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis — the reward earned earliest is applied first. The referrer reward cannot be redeemed as a cash withdrawal and can only be applied against Unchained subscription and product charges. Referral balances do not have a limit. If a refund is provided for your account, it will not affect your referral balance. Each referral reward is set to be deposited to the referee and referrer balance thirty (30) days after the referee completes their first purchase upon creating a new account. If the qualifying purchase is refunded, charged back, reversed, or otherwise cancelled during the thirty (30) day hold period, no reward is earned and nothing will be deposited. Each referrer reward is set to expire eighteen (18) months after it has been added to your balance, and is forfeited in full if your Unchained subscription is cancelled. If Unchained terminates your subscription, any refund of fees, if applicable, will be limited to fees you paid and will not include any portion of your referral balance.
When a Named Referral results in a completed first purchase, a Connection is automatically created between the referrer and referee accounts on Unchained. The referrer sees the label they entered for the invitation, and the referee sees the referrer's Display Name. Neither party will have access to features like key sharing, vault sharing, and trusted contact unless requested separately after a connection is made, and can be accepted or rejected. Either party may remove the Connection at any time in Connections settings. Removing a Connection does not affect referral attribution, the discount that was applied, or the referrer's reward, and Unchained does not notify the other party when a Connection is removed. Anonymous Referrals do not create a Connection.
If the same referee is invited by more than one referrer, only one referral reward will be issued for that referee. Unchained will credit the reward to the referrer whose invitation link was used at the time the referee completed signup, as determined by Unchained in its sole discretion. If attribution cannot be determined through the invitation link used at signup, Unchained will credit the reward to the referrer whose invitation was accepted first. Only one referral reward is available per referee regardless of how many referrers invited them.
If communicating your referral code via text message, email, or any other communication channel, you can only contact those who have consented to receive such a message from you. Before sending such a message, you attest that the recipient of the message has granted you their consent to receive an Unchained referral message. Unchained is relying on this consent, which you have obtained, for the purpose of complying with all applicable laws and regulations in order for you to send message(s) to your consented contact(s). You further agree that you shall indemnify and hold Unchained harmless against all actions, claims, costs, and/or losses arising from or in connection with sending the referral message to the recipient.
Promoting your referral code through the use of paid advertising based on the keyword "Unchained" or any other Unchained-related keywords is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, bidding on or running ads targeting searches for Unchained-related keywords. Using Unchained-branded terms in your ad copy is not appropriate. Referrers who engage in such activities will have their referral codes deactivated and all referrals resulting from such activities are ineligible for rewards or discounts.
Unchained reserves the right to revoke or freeze your referral balance at any time if the terms and conditions are not adhered to, not limited to illegal or nefarious activity across our platform. Unchained reserves the right to alter these terms or revoke the referral program entirely, at any time and without notice. Unchained will never ask, require, or otherwise ask to have you send any bitcoin in order to join our platform. The referral program is not applicable for Gannett Trust Company LLC's products or services.
